Brussels, 15/02/2013 (Agence Europe) - The final version of the report by the high level group on vine planting rights was published by the European Commission after consultation with the various stakeholders. Conclusions contained in the document had been published after the last high level group meeting on 14 December 2012. Experts recommend the establishment, early 2016, of a system for planting authorisation applying to all categories of wine and accompanied by a safeguard mechanism at Community level.
The conclusions of the high level group on vineyard planting rights were deemed of interest by many member states during the Agriculture Council of 19 December: France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Austria, etc. Only the United Kingdom took a clear stance in favour of abolishing all regulations in the sector.
