EFSA assessment of health risks from foods of non-animal origin

Brussels, 11/01/2013 (Agence Europe) - Although 90% of documented outbreaks of food-borne diseases in Europe are attributed to foods of animal origin, the number of outbreaks of food-borne disease leading to hospitalisation and relating to food of non-animal origin is constantly on the rise, according to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).
