Brussels, 13/12/2012 (Agence Europe) - For the second time, the European platform for the efficient use of resources set in place in June this year to steer implementation of the roadmap at the highest level for a resource-efficient Europe will meet on Friday 14 December in Brussels (see EUROPE 10627).
This body - which is chaired by John Burton, the former prime minister of Ireland and ambassador of the European Union in the United States - is expected to agree on a manifesto that will provide a framework for its work on the greening of the world economy, on objectives and indicators for measuring progress, and on investment framework conditions. The platform is composed of 34 members (including European Commissioners Potocnik, Tajani, Hedegaard, Rehn and Semeta, and the environment ministers of Denmark, Estonia, Italy and Germany, as well as four MEPs, nine company directors and members of international organisations, the civil society and academia).
