Brussels, 29/11/2012 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 28 November, the European Commission adopted a new package to support higher education in the EU neighbourhood countries, with the Erasmus Mundus and Tempus IV programmes for 2013. The Erasmus Mundus programme, which focuses on mobility, will be allocated with €74.2 million for the neighbourhood region for 2013. Around 228 full grants will be given to students from the region to follow Masters courses in the EU. The programme will also support 20 partnerships between universities of the partner countries and the EU - in other words, nearly 2,560 student and university staff exchanges.
The Tempus programme, allocated €58.85 million for 2013, will enable around 60 projects to be financed. Tempus finances cooperation projects inter alia in the fields of programme modernisation, the development of staff and university governance, and helps structural reforms in higher education.
