Brussels, 23/11/2012 (Agence Europe) - On Friday 23 November, the European Commission decided to provide aid of €25 million to support the fight against poverty in 885 rural communities as part of the second phase of the national initiative for human development (2011-2015). The objective is to support the development of revenue generating activities so as to give new impetus to the economic fabric of the least developed areas of Morocco, and to support the efforts of the government to give the poorest and the most landlocked regions infrastructures and basic social services. This programme follows directly on from a previous EU programme implemented with Germany and Belgium.
Tajani in Morocco and Tunisia. Vice-President of the European Commission and Commissioner for Industry and Entrepreneurship Antonio Tajani will be in Morocco on 26-27 November before travelling on to Tunis for the following two days for a similar mission. He will lead a large delegation of entrepreneurs with the aim of encouraging European investment. Three accords are due to be signed on SMEs, sectoral cooperation and support to the Moroccan and European private sector. (MB with FB/transl.fl)
