Brussels, 21/11/2012 (Agence Europe) - At a meeting in Brussels of the political directors with High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton on Wednesday 21 November, the E3+3 countries (Germany, France, United Kingdom; and China, United States and Russia) committed to continuing negotiations with Tehran on its nuclear programme. “The E3+3 are committed to having another round of talks with Iran as soon as possible”, Ashton's spokesperson said. He added that the “necessary contact will be made in the coming days”. No detail was given on the date of the negotiations resuming or on the contact. The spokesperson said that the E3+3 “remain united in their efforts to seek a diplomatic solution to the Iranian issue”.
The meeting of the political directors, chaired by Catherine Ashton, was part of the ongoing coordination effort to move the process forward to address the international community's concerns about the Iranian nuclear programme, the spokesperson explained.
