Brussels, 16/11/2012 (Agence Europe) - Dairy farmers from across Europe will be demonstrating in front of the European Parliament in Brussels on 26 and 27 November to demand effective legislation for the dairy industry in the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) to ensure diary farmers are able to receive a price for their milk in the future that covers production costs, explains the European Milk Board (EMB), which is organising the demonstration.
The EMB points out that since 2009, European dairy farmers have not been able to cover their production costs and thousands of dairy farms have therefore been abandoned or are under threat. Dairy farmers are fighting for their lives against this low-price crisis that is refusing to go away. A press conference will be held on Monday 19 November to explain why the demonstration of the following week is being orgamised. (LC/transl.fl)
