Brussels, 06/11/2012 (Agence Europe) - How can science best help political decision-makers and improve resistance to natural disasters in Europe and the world? Guest speakers and experts invited to the high-level scientific seminar, “Bridging science-based early warning and early action decision making” on 7-8 November in Brussels (Centre Albert Borschette), will be examining this subject and exchanging best practices in this connection.
The seminar was organised on the joint initiative of the UK Met Office and the European Commission's Joint Research Centre. It will bring together detection, prediction and early warning experts, as well as provide an evaluation of natural disasters. Attention will particularly focus on natural disasters in Europe (storms and floods etc.) but participants will also be examining support for managing natural disasters and adapting to climate change, as well as sharing the EU's expertise with other partners in the world.
