23/10/2012 (Agence Europe) - Füle says Chisinau deserves “ambitious” European future. On Monday 22 October, the Commissioner for enlargement, Stefan Füle, announced that Moldova, “deserves an ambitious European future” and spoke about, “the perspective for a country to accede” to the European Union. During an EU-Moldova Forum in Berlin, the Commissioner explained that “Moldova deserves continuous support to deliver on its commitments, and it is my conviction that it deserves an ambitious future. I'm talking here about the most powerful foreign policy instrument of the European Union and the expression of its ultimate transformative power - the perspective for a country to accede”. He made a reference to Article 49 of the treaty on the EU and accession to the EU, which “shows us the way forward”. He emphasised that Moldova has changed and continues to change quickly and that he had a dream of a Republic of Moldova that was, “prosperous, loyal to our values, consolidated, modernised, and re-integrated into the European family. But it is more than a dream. It is a real prospect”. (CG/trans/fl)
