Brussels, 25/09/2012 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 25 September, MEPs on the EP's internal market committee adopted the report by Regina Bastos (EPP, Portugal) on the 20 main concerns of European citizens and companies in the context of the single market. In response to a European Commission document on the subject, the EP report adopted seeks to provide solutions to a whole series of problems identified, such as the recognition of vocational qualifications, workers' mobility in the EU and single market governance. The report lists a series of possible action areas to boost the single market, such as modernising public services, launching information campaigns about the advantages of the internal market and improving the mobility of young workers. The report highlights the continuation of liberalising services and developing online trade. MEPs tackled the issue of transferring social rights, including pensions, and obtaining health insurance in another member state, as well as opening bank accounts. The report by Bastos focuses on the Commission communication published in September 2011 in which she highlighted (on the basis of problems identified by SOLVIT in particular, including complaints field)), the 20 most serious difficulties encountered by Europeans in the cross-border context, which range from social security, taxation, access to funding and online purchases.
