Ashton says “difficult but necessary” decisions required

Brussels, 25/09/2012 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 24 September, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton said during her meeting with Prime Minister of Kosovo Hashim Thaci on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly that “difficult decisions would be needed both in Belgrade and Pristina” as part of the dialogue between Serbia and Kosovo. She said that the two parties must be ready to engage “including at political level”. Ashton also welcomed progress on implementing the agreements already concluded and called for their full implementation “without delay”. Thaci confirmed the resolve of his country to take part in the negotiations. Ashton will meet President of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic in New York on Thursday 27 September. (CG/transl.fl)
