Füle says Serbia must take on acquis communautaire

Brussels, 25/09/2012 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 24 September, Commissioner for Enlargement Stefan Füle called on Serbia to come into line with the acquis communautaire. “As a candidate country, Serbia is expected to align its justice and public administration sectors with the EU acquis”, he said, being pleased that this objective is close to the heart of the new Serbian justice and public administration minister, Nikola Selakovic. At the end of their meeting Füle said that Belgrade must keep focused on the rule of law. The commissioner also welcomed the signature by the Serbian government of the protocol on integrated border management. Swift implementation of this agreement on the ground would constitute “a concrete sign of the political will of the new Serbian government to re-engage fully in the dialogue with Pristina”, he said.
