On Wednesday 12 September, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton strongly condemned the car bomb attack in Sana'a on 11 September 2012 against the minister of defence and his motorcade. She expresses her solidarity and fullest support to Minister Mohammed Nasser Ahmed, who has played a key role in the implementation of the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) initiative and in the fight against Al Qaeda. Ashton recalls that the EU is deeply concerned by all attempts to derail Yemen's transition and is committed to assisting President Hadi in implementing the political transition of Yemen.
