EUA publishes new report on university mobility

Brussels, 05/09/2012 (Agence Europe) - On 4 September, the European University Association (EUA) published a new report on European academic mobility, “Mobility: closing the gap between policy and practice.” Based on two years of research at a number of universities, the report explores future prospects against the backdrop of pressure at national and EU level to increase mobility. At EU level, the countries in the Bologna Process have set a target of 20% of graduates doing some of their studies abroad by 2020. Universities participating in the poll say that it is largely the attitude of the management board that determines the degree of academic mobility in any university. Other key factors for encouraging mobility are the provision of suitable services and innovative practices. The report recommends that universities wishing to introduce effective mobility programmes should provide themselves with a range of statistics and other information about mobility from various angles.
