03/09/2012 (Agence Europe) - Mergers: Vinci/Alpiq's EVT. On 31 August 2012, the European Commission gave the go-ahead to France's Vinci (public contracts, construction, infrastructure services, electrical engineering and mechanics) to buy up the energy feeding technique division (EVT) of Germany's Alpiq (specialised electrical engineering services in Germany, Austria, Hungary, Italy, the Czech Republic and Slovakia). After examining overlaps on several electrical engineering and other engineering markets in the Member States, the Commission found that the cumulative market share is limited and generally faces sufficient pressure from competition. The deal was notified on 26 July 2012. (FG)
