PwC gloomy over airport traffic

Brussels, 03/08/2012 (Agence Europe) - Airports are unlikely to return to the pre-crisis golden age within a decade, forecasts PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). It could be 2022-2024 before airports get back to pre-2007 growth in passenger traffic. PwC says in a study, published on 30 July, that “airports serve airlines as their primary clients and therefore share in the fortunes and woes of a highly cyclical industry”. Romil Radia, valuations partners, PwC said: “The speed of passenger traffic growth at airports hinges on the pace of the economic recovery. It is unlikely the numbers will revert to their historical trend line before 2022-24, reflecting the fact that the fall in traffic since 2007 has been markedly sharper than in previous recessions. It may even be the case that traffic never returns to the historical long term trend”. (MD/transl.rt)
