Brussels, 26/07/2012 (Agence Europe) - The London Olympics will attact more foreign visitors than any other Olympics in the past, but this will not have any negative impact on prices and the availability of accommodation during the summer, according to the European Tour Operators Association, ETOA, which describes the organisation of the Olympics in London as “remarkable” in terms of prices and provision for tourists. It comments: 1) Record numbers: During the Olympics, London hotels will welcome 60,000 visitors a night. By comparaison, Sydney welcomed 25,000, Athens 13,000 and Beijing 27,000; 2) bigger Olympic Family: There will be more representatives of governments, sponsors, the media, athletes' families and friends and other guests at the London Olympics than in previous events (more than 25,000 hotel rooms reserved, as opposed to 8,000 in Sydney, 4,000 in Athens and 8,000 in Beijing); 3) low prices: London hotels are charging slightly lower prices than the market rates at the time of reservation, granting half of tourists during the Olympics 'exceptionally low rates'; and 4) last minute reservations still possible: Despite the record numbers, the Olympics are not preventing London from welcoming last minute reservations at low prices, whether for flights or hotels.
