Brussels, 23/07/2012 (Agence Europe) - In July and August, European citizens can take part in a photography competition and show how EU regional funding is making a difference by taking a picture of an EU funded project. The two winners will receive a €1000 cheque to be spent on camera equipment, plus a trip for two to Brussels during the European Week of Regions and Cities (8-11 October 2012). By organising the “Europe in My Region” Photo Competition, the Commission aims to highlight the excellent work that projects across Europe are doing with the help of EU funding and explore what these projects mean to local communities. To take part, all participants have to do is upload photos of a project clearly showing the billboard or plaque with the EU flag somewhere in the picture, indicating that it has received regional funding, explaining what they find attractive in the project they photographed, irrespective of whether they are from the region concerned or not. The winners will be chosen on the basis of the number of votes they receive from internet users and Commission Facebook visitors' page where the gallery of photos will be published. The photos will be put to the vote between 27 August and 7 September next. (MD/transl.fl)
