23/07/2012 (Agence Europe) - Time is running out to comply with the cut-off date of 20 August, which was laid down for the end of transition in Somalia, the EU points out in Council conclusions adopted without debate on Monday 23 July. The Council urges the Somalian leaders and all other Somalian parties to observe their commitments and to “show that they are acting in the interests of all of the Somalian people”. Reminding the new federal institutions of the urgent need for them to identify and resolve the outstanding issues, the EU calls on the new government to lay down its priorities in a working programme within three months following its formation. It is in light of the results of the assessment of progress made in the implementation of this programme that the EU will decide on its support to the new federal institutions. (AN/transl.fl)
