Brussels, 26/06/2012 (Agence Europe) - On 26 June, the European Commission adopted the Eastern Partnership integration and cooperation programme, with a view to strengthening cooperation in this partnership and contributing to its implementation. The programme, to be given €130 million from the European neighbourhood and partnership instrument for 2012-2013, will provide increased support to the institutional and sectoral reforms in the partnership countries from the East (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus) with a view to accelerating their political association and their economic integration with the EU, and following the principle of “more for more”.
The supported initiatives will focus on democratic transformation and institution building, and on sustainable and inclusive growth and economic development. They will be identified by the EU delegations, in consultation with the partner governments, member states and international stakeholders. (CG/transl.fl)
