The annual rate of inflation in the eurozone fell from 2.6% in April to 2.4% in May 2012, according to data released by Eurostat, the EU's statistical office. A year earlier the rate was 2.7%. In May, the monthly inflation rate stood at -0.1%. Across the whole of the EU, the annual inflation rate stood at 2.6%, compared with 2.7% in April and 3.2% a year previously.
