Brussels, 04/05/2012 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 3 May, the Danish airline Cimber Sterling declared bankruptcy, the third European airline this year to do so after Spanair (Spain) and Malev (Hungary), preventing many passengers from continuing their journey. SAS Scandinavian Airlines, as well as the European association for low-cost airlines, have already announced their intention to assist travellers who were prevented from reaching destination. Cimber Sterling has been in financial difficulty for the past two years, being unable to face competitors and no longer supported by its financiers. Flight suspensions are, however, said to be only temporary. (MD/transl.jl)
