EXTERNAL ACTION / (ae) bosnia

03/04/2012 (Agence Europe) - Berlin and London urge Bosnia to be resolute in its aim to join the EU. On Tuesday 3 April, the German and British foreign ministers, Guido Westerwelle and William Hague, urged Bosnia-Herzegovina to make “decisive steps” towards the EU and NATO. In a joint column published in the press in Bosnia, they write: “2012 can be the year when Bosnia Herzegovina makes decisive strides towards both membership of the EU and of NATO”. They add: “Bosnia Herzgovina's political leaders have created a moment of opportunity and we urge them to seize it. We will do all we can to support them”. They point out that Sarajevo could, during this year, request candidate status for EU membership, on condition that it continues with reforms. (CG/transl.jl)
