EXTERNAL ACTION / (ae) kosovo

03/04/2012 (Agence Europe) - “Kidnapping” of two Kosovan police officers, EU following situation closely. Kosovo and Serbia must respond “responsibly in an effort to find an exit strategy” from their conflict involving the “kidnapping” of two Kosovan police officers by Serbia, and they must “respect their commitments”. This is the request made on Monday 2 April to the two parties by the spokesperson for the EU high representative for foreign affairs. Maja Kocijancic explained that they expected an agreement to be found and that they were following the situation closely from Brussels and on the ground. She added that the Emulex mission and the European External Action Service “will try and establish what has really happened and see how it is possible to make progress in this case”. On Saturday 30 March, Kosovo accused Serbia of kidnapping two police officers patrolling the border between the two states, although Belgrade has affirmed that they were arrested on Serbian territory.
