Joint work on partnership for reform

Brussels, 08/03/2012 (Agence Europe) - The EU and Armenia will continue to work together on a document entitled “Partnership for Reform”, in the context of the EU-Armenia partnership for reform “that would set out, in the form of a matrix, priority reform actions and their implementation with the support of EU funding when feasible”, announced Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Füle, speaking on Wednesday 7 March after his meeting with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan. Füle explained that the European Union is firmly committed to supporting the Armenian reform efforts with aid volumes that are already considerably higher for the current planning period compared to previous levels of aid. He said the additional funding is possible in line with the “more for more” of European neighbourhood policy. “It is entirely up to Armenia: the more reforms it performs, the more support the EU will be ready to mobilise, including through assisting Armenia in organising an international donors' event”, the commissioner added. The EU has allocated €157 million to Armenia for 2011-2013. (CG/transl.jl)
