In conclusions on Thursday 8 March, the EU Council of Ministers welcomed Special Report No 12/2011 from the European Court of Auditors, entitled “Have EU measures contributed to adapting the capacity of the fishing fleets to available fishing opportunities?” - (see EUROPE 10514). The Council notes that, on 13 July 2011, the Commission adopted a proposal for a Regulation on the Common Fisheries Policy and that, in December 2011, the Commission adopted a proposal for a Regulation on the European Fisheries Fund. Both these proposals “are currently being examined in the Council and by the Council's preparatory bodies and the Special Report in question has also been referred to in the context of this examination”, the Council limited itself to saying.
