Brussels, 08/03/2012 (Agence Europe) - Digital Agenda Commissioner Neelie Kroes posted a message for International Women's Day calling for more women to be more involved in the digital world. The statement was co-signed by European Commission President José Manuel Barroso, Commissioners Viviane Reding, Joaquin Almunia, Olli Rehn, Maros Sefkovic, European Council President Herman Van Rompuy, European Parliament President Martin Schulz, many high-profile women from the technological sector and most of Europe's telecoms groups. In the statement, Kroes states that the technology sector is not a masculine world and calls for more open access to key posts so that women can enter the digital world. “Our technology gurus and heroes cannot be limited to men. It's a digital world now and the digital world is for everyone. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise”, she states. (IL/transl.rt)
