06/03/2012 (Agence Europe) - Meeting between Herman Van Rompuy and Hashim Thaçi. The president of the European Council, Herman Van Rompuy, spoke on Friday 2 March of the “rich programme” that lies ahead of Kosovo for the coming year. After his meeting with Kosovar Prime Minister Hashim Thaci, Van Rompuy explained he hoped progress would soon be made on the visa dialogue, on an agreement for trade-related issues, on access by Kosovo to EU programmes, and on its accession to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. He also highlighted the fact that the European Council noted a feasibility study had been launched by the Commission for a stabilisation and association agreement. Thaçi, for his part, said his country would “work hard to do all its homework” to carry out the reforms necessary and develop its economy, in order to come closer to the EU. “'I expect the EU will leave its door open to us and that the journey will be as short as possible”, he added.
