SWIFT inter-bank system ready to cut out Iranian banks

Brussels, 17/02/2012 (Agence Europe) - Global provider of secure financial messaging services SWIFT said on Friday 17 February that it stood ready to end its services to Iranian banks that are subject to European Union sanctions.

SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication) said in a press release that it is “ready to act and discontinue its services to sanctioned Iranian financial institutions” as soon as it has clarity on EU legislation currently being drafted....
