Brussels, 14/12/2011 (Agence Europe) - Rebecca Harms and Daniel Cohn-Bendit have been re-elected as joint leaders of the Greens/EFA Group, the group announced on Wednesday 14 December. They will take the Parliament's fourth largest group into the next European election in 2014. Six of the seven group deputy leaders were also re-elected: Jill Evans, leader of the European Free Alliance, Reinhard Bütikofer, deputy leader and treasurer, Marije Cornelissen, Raül Romeva, Claude Turmes and Emilie Turunen. Michèle Rivasi is the seventh, and newly elected, deputy leader replacing Eva Lichtenberger, who did not stand for re-election.
From January of next year, the European Parliament will have a new president - Martin Schulz (S&D, Germany), if all goes as expected. The vice-presidents' posts will also be up for grabs. (LC/transl.rt)
