Brussels, 28/09/2011 (Agence Europe) - Twenty-one European tourist destinations have received the title of European Destinations of Excellence (EDEN) 2011, on the theme Tourism and Regeneration of Physical Sites, at an awards ceremony which took place in Brussels on 27 September as part of European Tourism Day. EDEN is a European Commission project encouraging models for the development of sustainable tourism across the European Union. As part of this, national competitions are held every year, leading to the selection of “destinations of excellence” in each participating country.
Tourism will remain on the agenda of the European Union, with an informal ministerial meeting to be held in Krakpw on 5-6 October. (IL/transl.fl)
