Brussels, 07/09/2011 (Agence Europe) - The “Train of Ideas”, a moving exhibition on European sustainable cities, rolled into Brussels on 7 September, for one of the stages on its tour to raise awareness among the citizens of the EU on sustainable urban living, using a concept developed in Hamburg, European Green Capital 2011.
The exhibition entitled “Visions for the Cities of the Future” was welcomed on its arrival in the capital of Europe by Janez Potoènik the European Commissioner for the Environment, Jutta Blankau, Hamburg's Senator for Urban Development and Environment, and Evelyne Huytebroeck, Minister for the Environment, Energy and Urban Renovation of the Region of Brussels. Killing two birds with one stone, they also opened the exhibition “Brussels, a Sustainable City”.
Janez Potoènik took the opportunity to urge “as many Europeans as possible to visit both exhibitions”.
The Train of Ideas will remain in Brussels until 13 September, then it will continue on its way to Amsterdam (15-19 September), Antwerp (21-25 September), before ending its journey in Hamburg (29 September-22 October). (A.N./transl.fl)
