05/09/2011 (Agence Europe) - Chemicals in sustainable growth exhibition in Brussels. The vice president of the European Commission in charge of industry, Antonio Tajani, and the president of the CEFIC (European Chemicals Industry Council), Giorgio Squinzi, inaugurated the exhibition “Tomorrow Starts with Chemistry” on Monday 5 September in the Berlaymont building in Brussels. This exhibition aims to illustrate the accomplishments and crucial role played by chemical products in growth and the quality of life. The exhibition provides concrete examples of how chemicals provide solutions to many problems in society. Chemistry is in the top flight of modern technologies that have an impact on our lives. Solar panels, wind turbines, innovative materials that help develop sophisticated electronic equipment or improve the efficiency and safety of vehicles, new materials produced from biomass, as well as new products to protect our health, crops and water sources that simply would not exist if it were not for chemistry.
