04/08/2011 (Agence Europe) - Mergers: KNS/Samsung C&T and Components and Materials M&A Private Equity Fund. On Thursday 4 August, the European Commission approved joint control of the Luxembourg company KNS Solar S.a.r.l by Samsung C&T Deutschland GmbH and Components and Materials M&A Private Equity Fund, both of the Republic of South Korea. KNS Solar is a joint venture that invests in solar energy projects in Italy through the acquisition of special purpose vehicles which will construct and operate photovoltaic power plants in Italy. Samsung C&T Deutschland is a holding company for Samsung C&T Corporation's European subsidiaries which are active in trade and investment. Components and Materials M&1 Private Equity Fund invests in renewable energy. The operation was examined under the simplified merger review procedure. (F.G./transl.jl)
