04/08/2011 (Agence Europe) - Mergers: Temasek and E. Oppenheimer & Son International/Tana. On Thursday 4 August, the European Commission cleared the merger whereby investment companies Temasek Holdings (Private) Limited and E. Oppenheimer & Son International Ltd acquire joint control, by way of purchase of shares, in a newly created joint venture consisting of two companies: Tan Africa Capital Limited and Tan Africa Investment Managers Limited (collectively referred to as Tana). Tana will invest in private and public companies in the fast moving consumer goods sector in Africa. Temasek is an investment holding company and its portfolio covers a broad spectrum of industries. E. Oppenheimer is a family investment vehicle, whose main assets are a substantial stake in the capital of De Beers, in addition to its investments in other activities.
