04/08/2011 (Agence Europe) - Concentrations: Carlyle/RAC. On Thursday 4 August, the European Commission cleared the acquisition of sole control by the Carlyle Group of RAC Limited. Carlyle is a global alternative asset manager, which sponsors funds that invest globally across four investment disciplines (buy-out, credit alternatives, growth capital and real estate) in a range of industries. RAC is a company active in the UK in three business segments: breakdown services (from which it derives the vast majority of its turnover), insurance broking and legal and motor claims services.
