07/07/2011 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 7 July, the European Commission authorised plans to acquire Janssen Animal Health (Jannsen Pharmaceutica, Johnson and Johnson group) by the international pharmaceutical group Eli Lilly. Its investigation showed that the entity created by the merger would hold fairly high market shares in certain markets, such as the market for the control of coccidiosis. However, potential clients (companies specialising in animal feed, producers of pre-mixers and poultry producers) would continue to have access to an adequate number of suppliers. Additionally, the operation, which was notified on 13 May of this year, would increase Eli Lilly's market share only marginally. (F.G./transl.fl)
