Further lifting of sanctions

Brussels, 27/06/2011 (Agence Europe) - In a further indication of the normalisation of relations between the EU and Côte d'Ivoire, now under democratically elected President Alassane Ouattara, the EU announced on Monday 27 June that it had lifted the restrictions on the last three entities subject to an EU assets freeze.

To support the country's economic recovery, the Council of the EU decided, without debate to end the assets freeze imposed on the Côte d'Ivoire Association of Natural Rubber Producers (APROCANCI), National Electricity Management (SOGEPE) and Ivorian Radio and Television (RTI).

The decision and the implementing regulation were published in the Official Journal of the EU of 27 June. Ten other Ivoirian entities had previously seen the assets freeze lifted (four on 8 April and the six others on 29 April). (A.N./transl.rt)
