24/06/2011 (Agence Europe) - Mergers: Osram/Siteco. On Thursday 23 June, the European Commission gave its permission for the German company Osram, which is owned by the Siemens group and active in the production of various types of lamps and lighting components, to take sole control of the German professional lighting producer Siteco. The operation was notified on 13 May and the investigation focused on its effects on the lighting lamp markets, LED and other lights and their components. The Commission concluded that competition would not be threatened within the European Economic Area, as the parties do not operate on the same markets: the entity born of the merger would have limited market shares in the downstream market and there would still be several competitors on the lighting and lighting components markets.
