24/06/2011 (Agence Europe) - New strategy against child pornography and sexual tourism. The three main institutions of the European Union, the Council of Ministers, the Commission and Parliament, have in principle accepted the new strategy proposed by the S&D Group of the joint assembly for combating child pornography and sexual tourism. This is announced in an S&D Group press release, which specifies that, in this new strategy, EU member states will remove sites on child pornography from the worldwide web rather than seeking to simply block them. It will banish tourist travel for the purpose of sexual tourism and provide specific support to victims. The new strategy is due to be formally adopted by Council and Parliament before taking effect.
