The EU has spoken out in the strongest terms against the bomb attack of 27 May on Lebanon, which injured six Italian members of the UN peacekeeping force in Libya (FINUL). “I urge the Lebanese authorities to take all necessary action to investigate this attack, in close coordination with our colleagues from the United Nations. On this International Day of UN Peacekeepers, I commend all UN peacekeeping forces who work to advance peace and security on a daily basis, in often very difficult circumstances”, said the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs, Catherine Ashton, in a press release dated 28 May.
