30/05/2011 (Agence Europe) - Commission clears extension of Belgian short-term export credit scheme. On Monday 30 May, the European Commission authorised extension of the Belgian short-term export credit scheme (see EUROPE 10014). The Commission found the prolongation of the scheme to be in line with the conditions of the temporary framework to support business access to finance during the financial and economic crisis. It notes, in particular, that Belgium has provided recent evidence establishing to the Commission's satisfaction that short-term export-credit insurance cover on private markets is still unavailable. The Commission has therefore concluded that this measure is compatible with Article 107(3)(b) of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union. (O.L./transl.rt)
