27/05/2011 (Agence Europe) - Only three member states have begun transposition of Telecoms Package, Neelie Kroes bemoans. During the Telecoms Council on Friday 27 May, the commissioner responsible for the digital strategy, Neelie Kroes, spoke of her “disappointment” over the lack of commitment shown by member sates in implementing the package adopted in 2009. So far, only three member states - Denmark, Estonia and the United Kingdom - have notified measures for implementing the new rules for progress to be made on consumers' rights, protection of privacy and competition. The deadline for transposition was 25 May. The commissioner threatened infringement proceedings would be initiated to urge member states to move forward. (I.L./transl.jl)
