18/05/2011 (Agence Europe) - Infrastructure - legislative package for October, Oettinger promises. Following on from the communication in November on the modernisation and strengthening of energy infrastructure (see EUROPE 10236 and 10258), the legislative package drafted by the Energy Commissioner Günther Oettinger's staff will include specifications on construction authorisation and the funding of infrastructure projects of European interest, a term to be defined more precisely, said the commissioner at a conference in Budapest on Monday 16 May. He indicated, too, that the legislative package would include priority status for such projects at national level and at Community level, and that authorisation procedures would be coordinated by a one-stop shop. In addition to the crucial issue of the gas network, Oettinger laid great emphasis on development of electricity highways and the CO2 transport network, related to carbon capture and storage facilities.
