15/02/2011 (Agence Europe) - Creation of the Confederation of Small Cities and Municipalities of EU. The European Network of Small Cities, which was created further to the first 'European encounters' of the small cities in Bordeaux in November 2007, will sign the founding statutes of the new Confederation of Small Cities and Municipalities of the European Union. With the creation of this new entity, the associations of the network wish to “have more influence on the European scene and plead for greater involvement of the local authorities in the Community decision-making process, to bring Europe closer to its regions and to its citizens”, states a press release published on Tuesday 15 February.
