14/02/2011 (Agence Europe) - Mergers: China Huaneng Group/InterGen NV. On Monday 14 February, the European Commission approved the acquisition of joint control of Dutch electricity generator InterGen N.V. by Chinese state-owned enterprise China Huaneng Group. Huaneng will purchase the 50% share holding currently belonging to GMR infrastructure B.V.of Malta. InterGen is currently jointly controlled by GMR and Ontario Teachers Pension Plan Board (OTPPB), a corporation responsible for investing the pension fund assets of the Ontario Teachers Pension Plan. InterGen is a developer and operator of electricity generation facilities worldwide with 12 generation sites, including in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Mexico, the Philippines and Australia, with a total capacity of 8.312 MW.
