03/02/2011 (Agence Europe) - Go-ahead for three mergers. On Thursday 3 February, the European Commission authorised several concentration operations according to the simplified procedure. It has therefore approved the following mergers in: - Austria, the joint takeover by Strabag AG (Austria) and EW4E GmbH (Germany) - two companies belonging to the French GDF Suez group - of the Austrian firm BMG GmbH. The latter is a jointly owned company recently set up to operate in the recycling of non-hazardous waste, particularly sewage sludge. Strabag AG provides construction services in Austria, whereas EW4E GmbH operates in the general energy sector (business, management, energy efficiency, renewable energies, industrial consultancy for the building and using of plant facilities, etc). - Russia, the joint takeover of the Russian company Trakya Glass Rus ZAO (JV) by Saint-Gobain Glass France, a subsidiary of the French Saint-Gobain group (glass, ceramics, plastics and building materials) and by the Turkish firm, Traky Cam Sanayi (glass and glassware, glass packaging and chemicals), a subsidiary of Turkiye Sis eve Cam Fabrikatari A.S. (Turkey). The undertaking created by the merger will operate in the manufacture and sale of glass in Russia. - United Kingdom, the takeover of the British company, Nampak Paper (packaging manufacturer provider) by US investment fund, Platinum.
