Brussels, 26/01/2011 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 26 January MEPs on the justice, civil liberties and home affairs committee (LIBE) ruled out working with the employment and social affairs committee (EMPL) on the compromise it is drafting on the single permit scheme (incorporating residence and work permits) for long-stay immigrant workers. It is intended that the compromise will be put to the vote in committee at the start of February and in plenary session in the course of the same month. With disagreements among members, the committee decided to move as quickly as possible and to concentrate solely on the amendments that proved problematical in December, in particular the call from the EPP for additional administrative papers.
