On Thursday 27 and Friday 28 January, a meeting between European and American experts will be held in Gödöllõ, near Budapest, to prepare for the session of the JHA ministers of the EU and the United States, to take place at the same venue in April this year. The discussions planned for the two-day meeting will focus on the fight against cyber crime, immigration, the trafficking in human beings, the fight against terrorism and visa policy, but also data protection, particularly in the framework of the PNR programme, negotiations for which, being carried out by the European Commission, have started. The question of the general EU-USA framework agreement on data protection and the Americans' appointment of their negotiator will not feature on the agenda of these two meetings. (S.P./transl.fl)
