Recovery on right track

Brussels, 19/01/2011 (Agence Europe) - The API, the agency for the promotion of industry and innovation in Tunisia, noted with satisfaction on Tuesday morning, that work had resumed, in particular in foreign, especially European, firms established in the country. Security had been re-established and the API itself opened its one-stop shop and had its support staff available to help companies resume work quickly, said the head of the API Ferid Tounsi. It has been decided to conduct a survey of businesses in Tunisia, both local and foreign, to assess their needs, provide assistance if necessary and sound out their views and opinions on the conditions for a full resumption of normal working.

Tounsi called for the fresh wind blowing through the country to be used to help in the resumption of work and in improving working methods and institutional support to business, to improve transparency and efficiency. He pointed out that the new government had put in place two commissions to bring an end to corrupt practices and other illegal activities hindering the progress of companies over the last few years.
